Opens on exact pixels: type a width, a height, a long edge or a short edge, and the factor follows.

Upscaled inside this tab. The original never travels.
Drop something small. We'll show you how far it can go.Paste works too, and so does a file you drag straight off the desktop — or several at once, for a batch. JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP and the HEIC an iPhone shoots open here; AVIF and TIFF open where this browser can read them (TIFF in Safari). Every one of them stays on this machine.

Nothing small to hand? There is a drawn 240 × 160 one.

What this opens on

The Pixels panel. Type the width you need and the height follows the picture’s own shape, or type the long edge and let the bench work out the rest. The resulting factor, the megapixels and whether this browser can hand the result back are on screen before anything is saved.

Where this falls down

  • A higher resolution is not a sharper picture.Resolution is a pixel count. Focus, motion blur and compression damage are enlarged with everything else; the Detail slider can steepen edges, inside a halo guard, but not refocus.
  • DPI is not resolution.A print lab's 300 DPI is pixels per inch of paper. This page sets pixels; the saved file carries no density tag, so tell the lab the print size.
  • Huge sizes meet the browser's ceiling.A desktop browser hands back up to 16,000 pixels on an edge and 80 megapixels; a phone far less. Past that the bench names the largest size that fits.

Questions people ask

Does increasing the resolution add detail?
It adds pixels. Each new pixel is worked out from its recorded neighbours by the method you pick, so edges stay smooth instead of turning into blocks — but nothing the camera did not record comes back. The 1:1 strip under the picture shows exactly what the new pixels look like before you save.
What if I type a size smaller than my picture?
The bench says so and offers to keep the picture at its own size. A smaller target is allowed — the save is exactly the size you typed — but this page is about making pictures bigger, and it will not pretend a reduction is an enlargement.
Why does it stop at eight times?
Past 8× nearly every output pixel is a guess about a guess, and the results stop being worth the memory. The bench names the largest size it will honestly produce for your picture instead of a blank canvas.
Is my picture uploaded?
No. The picture is decoded and enlarged inside this browser tab, and the saved file is written by your browser. No request this page makes carries it.
