What this opens on
The Visa photo panel, on the Indian e-Visa preset. The two presets, as their documents state them:
| Preset | Pixels | KB | Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Government of India e-Visa — Photo | 350 × 350 to 1000 × 1000, square | 10–300 | JPEG |
| U.S. Department of State, Diversity Visa programme — Photo | exactly 600 × 600 | 0–240 | JPEG |
Worked case: a 300 × 400 phone crop on the US DV preset is first framed to a 300 × 300 square, then enlarged ×2 to exactly 600 × 600 and saved as a JPEG under 240 KB. On the e-Visa preset the same square is enlarged to 350 × 350 (×1.17), the smallest size that clears the floor.
Where this falls down
- It cannot make a small face sharp.Enlarging clears a pixel floor; it does not add detail a camera never recorded. A very small face will look soft at 600 × 600.
- No preset is 'approved'.The numbers come from the linked documents. Confirm on the official portal before you submit.
- No background or pose checks. Those are the authority's checks and depend on the photograph, not the file.
Questions people ask
- Which visa specifications are here?
- Two, each with its source document and the date it was checked (18 October 2026): the Government of India e-Visa photo (square, 350 × 350 to 1000 × 1000 pixels, 10–300 KB, JPEG) and the U.S. Diversity Visa photo (exactly 600 × 600 pixels, up to 240 KB, JPEG). For any other visa, choose Custom and type the numbers your form gives.
- My photo isn't square. What happens?
- A crop frame of the right shape appears over the photo. You move it; nothing is cut until you press Crop to this frame, and the save stays off until the shape matches.
- Is a '2x2 photo' the same thing?
- A 2 × 2 inch print photo is square, and the US DV upload is the square 600 × 600 pixel version of it. This page makes the digital file; it does not make a print layout.
- Will the embassy accept it?
- The page checks pixels, shape, KB and format against the preset and shows the result, read from the saved file. Face position, background and lighting are checked by the authority, not here.
Better fit?
- Enlarge a photo for an online formSourced form presets: pixel floor, KB band and JPEG in one pass, then checked.
- Increase JPG size in KBClear a form's minimum file size honestly: quality first, then pixels, bytes measured from the saved file.
- Increase image resolutionType the exact width, height or long edge; the bench shows the factor that results and whether it fits.
